WRSW has an exciting opportunity to partner with the Lake County History Center in early 2018, and you’re invited to take part! At our November meeting, Nancy presented an invitation from LCHC to assist with a special display to accompany the Rabbit Run Theater production of the musical “Quilters” in February, 2018 at Lake Erie College in Painesville, OH. Thanks to a generous supporter of the History Center, the insurance rider for the show is being covered, and the only stumbling block that the guild saw to participate has been removed.
Linda Christopher and Nancy Curtiss are overseeing the two parts of the show. Nancy and the “Tool Team” will be assisting curator Lynn Vandevort with the part of her show that deals with an historical sheep to shawl presentation using the artifacts from the museum’s archives. Linda will be overseeing a special WRSW guild member show that was requested by Lynn to bring her pioneer story right up to the 21st century.
We’ll need member projects to hang in this show from all aspects of our fiber arts – not just spinning and weaving. More information on how you can participate will be released as we get word, but please begin looking at your complete and finished projects to see what you can loan to the museum for the show. The installation of this show begins in late January, so we don’t have any time to lose in planning.
This is a wonderful opportunity for our guild to be seen by an arts-loving public who will be attending the musical at Lake Erie College, and a way to show how what we do bridges both time and cultures! We’re not a “dying art”… and here’s the chance to show why! Please stay tuned…
