We apologize for not being able to address this at our meeting last Tuesday, but this coming weekend, May 8 & 9, is Shearing Weekend at Lake Metroparks Farmpark.

We realize that not everyone is comfortable or prepared to do our usual public demonstrations of our craft just yet, but we’ve been asked to provide what we can to enhance this event.  It’s a great way to show off the Guild, and to share with the general public what’s so great about what we make and do.

For the Guild, this is one of two events that are part of the requirements for us to maintain our free meeting space, and enables us to use the facilities for free for one workshop a year. This is equivalent to about $1800 yearly that doesn’t have to come out of our funds!

What – Craft Demonstrations (no make & take or lectures)

Where – Lake Metroparks Farmpark, 8800 Euclid Chardon Rd, Kirtland, OH 44094

When – Saturday, May 8 from 10-4, and Sunday May 9 (Mother’s Day) from noon-4

Specifics – Please bring your craft and a chair.  We aren’t sure if tables and/or chairs will be provided, so please let us know if you would need one. We will do our best to make sure that there is a 6-8 foot barrier between the demonstrators and the general public.  Masks will be required, even if we’re outside (just to be extra safe). We aren’t sure if the Café is open, so you may want to pack a snack. Demonstrators at Farmpark will be awarded RAAM points, as per usual.  This event is always voluntary, but we hope that some will be able to come at short notice.  Even an hour on one of these days would be a big help to the guild and to the facility.

Nancy will oversee sign-ins and help demonstrators on Saturday, and Nora will do the same on Sunday.  If you’d like to sign up for a time in advance, please contact either Nora or Nancy.  Or just show up with your gear and let them know at the front desk that you’re with the guild. The more we know in advance, the more we can be prepared to set up our space safely and appropriately.

This is such late notice that we’ll be happy to see any and all who feel comfortable participating!  And if not now, then hopefully for our other demonstration opportunity in September. (More on that later.) Thanks for your consideration.
