WRSW Workshop Now Open For Enrollment
Several months ago, we filled out a survey that showed the two most popular topics for a workshop were weaving fabric and garment construction. Based on this feedback WRSW is holding a workshop, “InVEST Yourself”, with Betsy Bruce.
The workshop is now open for enrollment.
The first day of the workshop will be in the afternoon on Sunday August 11. At this session there will be lots of samples for folks to look at, touch, try on, etc….. and we will talk about what makes a cloth good for sewing.
Betsy highly recommends that all students choose from only one or two patterns. In the past there was just too much variation to adequately assist all with so many different patterns. She recommends a non-gender specific three piece waistcoat/vest or an open front tabard style (lined or unlined) sleeveless vest of varied length. The take away from this session will be the pattern you will sew and a direction for what fabric you will weave.
Then on Saturday and Sunday November 2 & 3 we will meet in the classrooms at Lake Farmpark. Participants will cut their prepared cloth, sew the garment on their own working sewing machine and complete the finishing touches. A mini style show will show off completed (or nearly completed) garments to finish the class.
Betsy cautions, this is not a beginner how-to-sew class. Participants should have experience sewing on their machines….. threading, minor trouble-shooting, etc.
On Nov 2 & 3 the Guild will provide drinks and snacks for morning and afternoon breaks. Participants should bring a bag lunch both days. On Saturday after class, the group will go out to dinner with the instructor. Please indicate if you plan to attend for dinner.
The fee for the workshop is $130 for members.
Class size is limited to a maximum of 12 students.
To sign up for the class, send an Email to Bob Breitzmann to reserve your spot and send a check to confirm. (See roster on website for address.)
